Buttefly Jam

It is another welcome return on Wednesday (Feb 3) at The Biddulph Arms when firm local favourite Bob Fox revisits North Staffordshire. Known more as an outstanding interpreter than writer Bob mixes traditional material with other fine writers from the North East and beyond, all intelaced with his trademark humour. Support comes from local father and son duo Chris and Ciaran Algar.

Big loop party

Ofcourse It would have been nice to post yesterday about the tremendous evening we had at Storm Brewery on Saturday night. Unfortunately both the Janes were feeling a little 'liverish' the day after the Big loop Party. Perhaps it was the rhubarb and ginger cordial, swigged in quantity or the many irresistable pints of Gale Force downed, we can't be sure...those Spearings pies slipped down a treat too.
Any way here are some pictures, thanks Vera.

Many thanks to VG net (web design) for sponsoring this exuberant evening, huge thanks to the astonishing Butterfly Jam and various spontaneous guests. Loved Colin's harmonica playing , Dan's acoustic set and the charismatic verbal charms of Jo Bell and her poems. Thanks also to Reggae Dave for spinning the discs. What a night!

Thank you for all your support for the year of loop socials and your lovely texts and e mails about the Big loop Party.
We raised £260 for Macclesfield Barnaby Festival next June .

Burtterfly Jam

We are very excited that loop favourites Butterfly Jam are playing in town again. We have gushed about them before, so we won't go on about it , just have a look at the blog posting for 17 June for lots more info. Make sure you get along this Wednesday and enjoy their brilliant, danceable music in Ronnies covered and heated courtyard. Highly recommended.

Alternatively Club Franco Britannique de Macclesfield meet tonight at 8pm in the Brocklehurst Room in the Heritage Centre on Roe St. This will be a talk in French by Catarina Guében on her "Aventures à VTT dans les Carpathes (récit et photos)". All are welcome.

Another recommendation from a loop reader for Mikron Theatre. She and her son have seen them many times over the years and says they just get better and better. They are performing Tales of the Thames at Bollington Art Centre this Friday. We're ringing for tickets now!

More for the weekend incl. a big one

Imagine a summer's day on which millions of us, throughout the UK, sit down to have lunch together, with our neighbours in the middle of our streets, and on every patch of common ground. The food, entertainment and decorations we will have either grown, cooked, or created ourselves. This will be a day to break bread with our neighbours, to put a smile on Britain's face. It's the big lunch. It's this Sunday so have have a look at www.thebiglunch.com to find your nearest one in Macc. In this spirit why not take a picnic to South Park and be entertained by the KEMS choir in the bandstand Sunday 2-4pm?

Truly unmissable on Saturday 18th are the wonderful Butterfly Jam who are playing their unique bassy soul at the Old Millstone.See previous posting on Wed 17 June for band info..

Sunday sees Jodrell bank marking Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin's first walk on the Moon on 21 July 1969. Join them (not Neil & Buzz!) on the day to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Moon landing with a day of talks and activities. During the afternoon they will be sending selected voice messages as radio transmissions to the Moon, bouncing them off its surface and catching their returning echoes with the Lovell Telescope!

Friday night has an Elvis tribute at Gawsworth. Will it be Michael next year?
