We are heading down to the Farmers market (Sat) in aid of East Cheshire Hospice ( see previous post) for some weekend goodies.Theres a free hog Roast .Then seeing as though the sun's out we might have a trot round South Park looking for Easter eggs. Think we'll take the terrier, should make them easier to find.

If you fancy sussing out some of the local bands before the Battle of the Bands (Barnaby festivals Unknown Treasures) the best of Congleton are playing today.The Dirty Dozen Comes To Town.All Day-a whole array of local talent, with bands to suit all tastes. The 'must do' event this weekend has to be vegetable sculpture at Cloverbank farm. We say that of course because the loop is doing it. Come down on Saturday morning to stockpile gourmet organic and local produce and say hello to the loop team and friends whilst sculpting something extraordinary from a marrow. Skip breakfast and grab it there and don't forget your basket.

Half of the loop caught Bat for Lashes in Manchester last night and was reminded how good it is to get out and see a live band. With that in mind get along to Dom & Neil at the Swan with Two Necks on Friday night and Bridgewater Blues band at Ronnies on Sunday.You can catch a rare gig from the snappily named Konkoma Maximum Love Garden Orchestra on Friday at the Hollins Pub (and there is a rumour they are at the Millstone on Saturday). A reliable source says they are fantastic.

Altrnatively on Sunday KEMS perform their Autumn Fiesta! concert with conductor Anthony Houghton and Brian Lightowler on accordian. More details from their website.

Looking backwards, thanks Yvonne for your kind words and comments on the John Lindley / loop social: 'It felt very relaxing, I felt like a child being read to as I listened to the poetry, which is a new area for me.' You might fancy the vegetable scuplture then.

Fingers crossed it will be glorious this weekend, like last. When we were graced with the sort of weather the North West has become entirely unaccustomed to.
We definitely want the sun to shine on those Pirates (it's National Pirate Day) and on the bands playing at the Bandstand in South Park on Saturday. Great local music, a picnic by the lake... see earlier post for full details. Take your terrier as the annual South Park Dog Show is going on too. Mmm, take your terrier dressed as a pirate?! Pictures please!

The'' Looking at Paintings' 8 week course starts at Bollington Arts Centre tomorrow and if you fancy some trad jazz Annies Saints and Sinners play the Egerton Arms. Don't miss the very high quality and expansive Cloverbank Farmers Market on Saturday and watch out for frolicking calves, capering as you drive up the lane. They're having a ball at the moment apparently.

There's more music from F.I.G.M.O and Hey Zeus at the Swan with two Necks on Saturday night and the Merchants of Cool play Ronnie's on Sunday .

It's the second weekend of the Cheshire Open Studios. Seize this opportunity to see and possibly buy work direct from the artists in their studio. Sadly Macclesfield artist Jayashree Jaipal won't be showing as advertised but see her glorious pink abstract here instead.
