Loop social

Macc 'does' national poetry day

Not simply satisfied with just reporting the arts events in and around Macclesfield the loop likes to get on and organise the odd thing too.

To celebrate the issue of loop No 9 it hosts another of its highly popular social evenings. A chance for like-minds to exchange a bit of banter (cultural or otherwise) whilst enjoying some local creative talent and raising a glass to national poetry day too.(ok thats the 8th and we're a couple of days early but...)

Please join us for an evening of poetry with former Cheshire poet laureate
John Lindley

“…a dash of grit, rough urban magic, rural charm and a healthy dose of colourful humour.”
John will be signing copies of his new book at his new book The Casting Boat.

“ Lindley’s is an acutely observed world...(his) poetry is sexy, lyrical and by turns melancholic’ Link

Tim Woodehouse 'live' + Ian Coppack film= Loop Social

The loop is a sociable animal that likes nothing more than to be out on the tiles, indulging in a little cultural stimulation and bantering cheerfully with friends on a wide range of vital topics: the town centre redevelopment, where to get the best pint in town and the demise of Clegg’s Right Price Toiletries. With that in mind please join us for another Social at Ronnie’s Bar on 31 March. We are delighted that local idiosyncratic bard Tim Woodehouse will be performing his unique, warm and perceptive tunes for us, live. There will be delicious food (free) and drink available and we’ll be watching a local short film by Ian Coppack too. This is a deliberate divergence from the previous loop format, allowing us to relish some local talent and have lots of time for chat too.

Free but booking essential. maccloop@googlemail.com.

Good to meet you

It was marvellous to see so many loop readers at Ronnies Bar on Tuesday night. Thanks Ronnie for your hospitality and chip butties. We enjoyed the film and particularly the 'short' of Mill Street with music by Tim Woodehouse. RIP Cleggs. Many thanks to Blord for allowing us to show his film.

In future loop Socials hope to revolve around the showing of a short film with a live element too. Hope this suits everyone and it should allow for more time for post performance chatter and socialising. It seems loop readers are quite a garrulous bunch. Details of this to follow. Thanks again for coming and book early for the next one as we are space limited.
