Music, Meteorites, Mark (Hankin that is)

Two music Festivals in two weekends, Macclesfield has never been short of musical talent but things have surely never looked better...

Don’t miss Mind, Body and Boogie a 3-day event run by the mental health organization Week 4 A Day. It kicks off on Friday 7 Aug at 7.30pm and features Skipping Madrid, Twilightrobin, Bigfin and Blackbart. Saturday is divided into a family afternoon, alcohol free session between 1 and 7pm. With The Yossarians, Tim Woodhouse and the Wooden Robots... and the evening session from 8pm with The Circus Electric, Little Tremers, Darren Poyzer and more... Then, why not return on Sunday for the acoustic open mic session, Garron Frith, The Sames and Helen England et al. From 1 to 8pm.

And... as if that wasn’t enough on Saturday night The Hollies play Gawsworth Open Air Theatre and Bang on Presents Question the Mark at the Swan With Two Necks. Away from music there’s the Perseidis Meteor Shower Party at Jodrell Bank. With telescopes, talks, 3D theatre and a BBQ from 9pm to midnight, cross everything for a clear night.

If you can’t decide where to go first and need help and intuitive inspiration there are still a few places left on Mark Hankin’s Weekend of Tarot. Starting on Saturday, at Ronnie’s Bar, with the workshop and running through Sunday with card readings.
And finally for the children Saturday is Ben 10 day at Waterstone’s and The Balloonist will be up to high jinks in the Grosvenor Centre between 11am and 4pm.

Hoping to get to Mind, Body & Boogies at least once. Details of the music can be found here, sounds like there'll be some great talent!

We went along to Mind, Body & Boogie on Sunday and saw Zacc Rogers, Expatrio, Helen England and The Wishing Well among others. It was a shame to see that the event was not very well attended (I heard that Fri/Sat numbers were a bit disappointing too) despite a huge amount of organisation and fabulous acts. On the up side that meant that it had a really cosy/intimate atmosphere. The Australian band 'Wishing Well' were incredible, especially the 2 violinists who totally rocked! They've promised to come back next year, so here's hoping they get a much bigger audience - let's spread the word, it's a great cause and a great festival!
