Artist in residence
Cheshire East Arts, Heritage & Museums service is looking to appoint two visual artists for this year’s Big Draw initiative. Each successful applicant will deliver a community arts event at a sports venue across the borough on Saturday, 9 October 2010, helping to promote health and wellbeing to the wider community through participation in the arts. Cheshire Dance will also be delivering a Big Draw event at a third venue on this date.
The appointed artists will create a piece of art working with members of the public to convey the rhythm and movement of physical activity. Each artist will be working at a leisure centre, and the intention is make a connection between the benefits of participation in both the arts and in sport throughout life. They are looking for a creative approach from versatile and flexible artists, able and willing to work in a challenging venue.
The successful applicants will have experience in a similar role and of working with a wide cross section of age groups and communities. The artists will also have experience of producing high quality work, and may be required to work in an outdoor environment.
They invite your proposals setting out how you would create a piece of visual art that celebrates The Big Draw and is inspired by the physical activity taking place in their leisure centres. If you are interested in applying please forward a proposal to include the following:
- A brief statement explaining why you are interested in this commission and your approach to the work (one side of A4).
