“Hands On” - Artists Wanted
Artists and workshop facilitators using straight forward techniques who would benefit from training and experience working with people with learning disabilities in Knowsley.
Artists criteria
We are looking for artists using accessible, low tech, ‘hands on’ processes and materials specifically:
Textiles e.g. feltmaker
2D e.g. Collage, simple printmaking, drawing
Mosaic
3D Sculpture
We want people with experience of running workshops but who would like the opportunity to gain experience and have training to work with people with learning disabilities.
Artists must have the ability to inspire and pass on their practical arts skills to non arts participants.
“Hands On” Project Aims
To teach staff and clients basic art skills to enable them to continue using those materials and techniques independently.
To encourage day service staff to become familiar with arts and heritage venues offer and increase visits to them.
Work in partnership with NML and Tate Liverpool staff and their collections as inspiration for practical workshop sessions.
Fees
Total of 10 days work at £200 per day plus materials.
Travel, planning, preparation and evaluation included in fee.
Timetable
Project will happen between August 2010 and April 2011.
