Calling all Filmmakers

Chester Performs is seeking submissions of both new and existing film work by filmmakers from England’s North West and North Wales.

Screen Deva’s NW Film and Acoustic Night offers local filmmakers the opportunity to screen their work alongside, and meet other local filmmaking talent. The screening will take place Sunday 6th June at Telford’s Warehouse in Chester, followed by their popular acoustic night will allow plenty of opportunity for informal networking.

Childrens poster competition

Poster Competition to help clean up Macclesfield

Have you ever noticed the amount of litter hanging around our streets and alleyways? Well, you are not alone and we are asking for your help. Please read on!

On Saturday June 12th we are hoping that as many people as possible will join forces to clean up our town and make it look really good for the Barnaby Festival which will take place all round Macclesfield from June 18th to 20th.

We need you to design an A4 Poster with a catchy slogan asking people of all ages to join us on June 12th to pick up the litter and hopefully stop the habit in the future!

Three winning posters, one from each age group, will be displayed all over Macclesfield to advertise this event.

The closing date for this competition is Wednesday, May 5th so please get designing and come up with something really eye-catching.

Google “Stop the Drop Campaign” to find lots of good ideas to give you a start!

The winner for Years 5 and 6 will receive £5.

The winner for Years 7 to 9 will receive £10.

The winner for Years 10 and over will receive £15

Please remember to write your name, year group and school on the back of your poster and hand your entry into the school office.

It's Official, Music is Power!

There's one thing for certain - it's all going on at Ronnie's Bar this Easter weekend. But first, a mention of Audiopimps, playing live at Fresh, Wood St., on Good Friday night; and back to Duke's Court...

Sunday (4 April) sees Ronnie play host to Music Is Power 2010, (pic courtesy of Youth Music) a charity event featuring some of the best bands and artists from Cheshire and Greater Manchester, from folk to indie and right on to hard rock. With a line up that includes Tom & Ferg, Chris Birdsall, Rich House, Supernought, Old Yellow and Mars Black. From 2pm to late at a ticket price of £10.

It's all in aid of Youth Music charity, a cause that helps improve the lives of disadvantaged young people by providing free access to a range of music-making projects and activities.

Since 1999, Youth Music has helped transform the lives of over 2 million children and young people through the power of music and because of the charity there ar now more high quality music-making opportunities for a wider range of children and young people than ever before; from learning rock guitar or beat-boxing to classical violin and everything in between.

The festival aims to raise funds for this cause and raise awareness of the organisation and of the positive and often life-changing effects music can have for young people.

For more information on the charity or to make a donation, go to http://www.musicispower.youthmusic.org.uk/

Oh yeah! and on Monday night the Virgin Marys play in the courtyard too - just has to be the place to be. See you there.
