T
he fabulous Virgin Marys play Ronnie's Bar tomorrow night

Meanwhile further afield:
'Kirsty McGee is familiar to many venues in the North West but is making her first and long overdue appearance in Biddulph. After bursting on to the folk circuit a decade ago she has had albums produced by Clive Gregson, Boo Hewerdine and the latest studio cd 'Kansas Sessions' produced by Mike West from the duo Truckstop Honeymoon is a real cracker. The winning, eclectic mix of folk, country, bluegrass, jazz and whatever else really defies categorization all performed under the u
mbrella of the Hobobop Collective.'' Virgin Marys@ Ronnies Bar, Dukes Court, Mill St, Macc Kirsty McGee's Hobopop Trio @ The Biddulph Arms Weds April 21 8pm Admission £12 01782-514896

Virgin Snow

We know its dicey on side roads and precarious on pavements but its still so darned pretty. Another light dusting over night has hidden the grubby bits, and the snow just keeps on inspiring you to take your cameras out. Thanks to artist Yvonne Philiipps for her picture....more to follow and keep them coming. If you don't get to the panto in Bollington you might fancy the Virgin Marys at Ronnies on Sunday.

Victory: the council took n
ote of 450 letters of objection and a very polite bunch of demonstrators on Thursday this week. They very sensibly turned down the application for a lap dancing Club in town. The loop loves the banner Lap dancing? No. Tap Dancing? Yes, Yes, Yes!. Inspired.

Its Tuesday so there will be Pizza and Piano at the Baths Hotel in Macc tonight and the Virgin Marys are playing at Ronnie's tomorrow night (Wed) .One of the Janes will definitely have detoxed enough to be there. If you prefer a bit of theatre, 'Happily Ever after' is the latest Fallibroome High School performance for children 5-95 years old.....

Holly has very kindly sent us a personal recommendation :

'I wanted to let you know a
bout a gig on Thursday this week, Alexis Maclean is playing at the Boarhound. She has played at WindyStock and Mind Body and Boogie this year. We think she is brilliant - http://www.myspace.com/alexismcleanmusic. The guide is brilliant and I have now joined the Monday knitting group at Kusch and really enjoyed the Northern Soul night a Ronnie's recently.' That's fantastic Holly that you are getting stuck in.

If theres something you love happening
out there, make sure we know about it.

Thanks Yvonne for the picture of Jo at Storm last Saturday night.

Local wisdom

You may remember an intriguing event organised by the London College of Fashion in Bollington in July. As a part of Local Wisdom you were invited to be photographed wearing a treasured garment with personal significance. The day was a great success and now you have the chance to view a selection of the resulting photographs in the window of the White Gallery in Bollington
.

The Silkscreen season gets under way tonight, see posting for Sept 2 and have a look at their web site and be seduced by the brilliant programme of films.

The Virgin Mary's are playing at Ronnie's tonight but if its time to pick up a guitar yourself you could join in the beginners electric guitar lessons at the Dog and Partidge in Bollington instead.
